To illustrate Pro Helvetia’s various calls for work grants and national as well as international platforms we are offering the opportunity to emerging Swiss Graphic & Media Designers to conceptualize and create an imagery. This imagery will accompany the publication and promotion of open calls and other funding opportunities published both on Pro Helvetia’s web page and on its dedicated web page Design Switzerland

To promote these calls, we are seeking unique and innovative new imagery that echoes the possibilities Pro Helvetia offers in the field of Design. The visuals will be used for the years 2023 and 2024. The candidates will be in close contact with the Pro Helvetia design division.

The imagery needs to be scalable (20 to 30 applications over 2 years) and can be derived from various techniques such as 3D, painting, digital image creation, photography, drawing, collage, etc. The imagery needs to be a continuous body of work that must feature a degree of variability over the different applications. The imagery must be compatible with Pro Helvetia’s visual identity.

This Call for Application consists of three phases (all studios applying must consider having time to work on pitch and execution during these stated times):

Phase 01: PORTFOLIO

14 July to 15 August 2022

  • Application with portfolio
  • Selection of three studios for paid pitch

In the first part of the application, studios are asked to hand in their existing portfolio, highlighting the work and approach to image concept and creation. Based on this, three studios will be selected. For this first step, candidates should limit to apply with 3 to 6 projects and the files must not exceed 20MB. This phase is not financially remunerated.

Phase 02: PITCH

7 September to the beginning of October 2022

  • Briefing and four weeks of pitch preparation
  • Pitch presentation
  • Final selection of one studio

After the first phase, three studios will be selected and will get a more in-depth briefing of the needs and requirements of the new imagery. They will then have 4 weeks to prepare and develop a pitch presentation. This phase is remunerated.

Phase 03: EXECUTION

mid-October to mid-December 2022

  • Briefing, concept development, and execution (paid mandate)
  • Feedback meetings with expert

One studio is selected and will receive a paid mandate to develop and execute the new imagery with a design expert.

Criteria for imagery:

  • Imagery needs to follow a clear concept over all single applications
  • Imagery needs to have a degree of variability while still being seen as one body of work
  • Imagery needs to work without typography or realistic depictions

Criteria for applicants:

  • The applicants portfolio must show an innovative approach to concept and creation of imagery
  • The applicants may submit their portfolio up to seven years after completing their studies or founding their studio
  • The applicants must be Swiss citizens or permanently reside in Switzerland

Apply via this link until 15 August (midnight)
