The question of the origin and production conditions of food has become a matter of good taste in the gastronomic world. But this effort usually ends with the plate itself. It is with this observation in mind that crisp-id has developed «Tabletop Bistrobar», a ceramic set for the Casino restaurant in Bern.
Consisting of a 6-piece lunch collection and a 7-piece evening collection, this tableware set not only fascinates with its materiality, but also offers chefs a wide range of possible uses. While the lunch composition is kept geometrically simple, the elements of the evening collection are more complex, reflecting the sophisticated level of an evening menu and blending into the convivial atmosphere of a dinner. Every single part of this collection can be used on both sides and is very versatile in use.
«Casino Bern Tabletop Bistrobar» offers a promising approach to the scalable production of ceramics in Central Europe: in a ceramics manufactory in the nearby Westerwald, crisp-id found experts, who had almost disappeared in Europe, who know how to produce ceramics with locally available raw materials that meet the high demands of the gastronomy. Specifically for this tabletop, they jointly developed a ceramic mass which gives the “red clay” found in this region an exceptional quality.
Casino Bern Gastronomy and crisp-id are now making this collection available to restaurateurs and consumers.
crisp-id has been founded by Jérôme Rütsche and Felix Spuhler. Together they design and develop products for start-ups and companies, from the idea to marketability. «Casino Bern Tabletop Bistrobar» had been nominated for the Swiss Design Awards 2020.
